King George Returns

Doors at 7:30PM

Show at 8:00PM

George Jones is widely recognized as the greatest singer in country music. From his start as a flat-topped honky-tonker, to his reign as king of the country crooners, his hit-making career spanned the history of country music after WWII, scoring number one hits in four different decades and helping to define the art of singing country music.

Jill Rogers & Crying Time bring their celebration of the King of Country to Ashkenaz, featuring some of the Bay Area’s most celebrated singers interpreting the heart-breaking and boot stomping songs of George Jones. Hear the hits, the duets, and the deep cuts performed by Smelley Kelley (Red Meat), Joe Rut (Sunshine Shovelers - Best Local Band 2024 - East Bay Express), Maurice Tani (77 El Deora), Andrés Miguel Cervantes (Speakeasy Records), Leigh Crow and Ruby Vixen (Velvetta), and Hank and Lynne of Nashville Honeymoon, along with Jill Rogers & Crying Time.

Elvis Presley Tribute Party!

This year’s Elvis Tribute will celebrate the SEVENTIETH anniversary of the events in July 1954 that turned a shy boy into the King - his first recording with Scotty Moore and Bill Black on July 5, 1954, that produced "That's All Right” (and 2 days later, "Blue Moon of Kentucky”), released together as a single on July 19; and the breakthrough performance a few weeks later on July 30 at the Overton Park Shell in Memphis, when he drove the crowd wild with a few shakes and twitches - some call this the first rock and roll concert.
